The daughter of the former president of the country was being investigated for corruption when she fled the country.
The state-run Angola Press News Agency reported on Monday that the attorney general of the country issued a warrant for her arrest after she failed to respond to notifications.
She was appointed to head the state-owned oil firm Sonangol by her father, a former president of the country.
According to the New York Times, dosSantos resides in London and she has dismissed the investigation against her.
The international warrant will allow her to be arrested but she hasn't been added to the online database of red notices.
Forbes contacted the international police organization for a comment.
Forbes named her the richest woman in Africa eight years ago, even though her father was still the president of the country. She remained on the list of Africa's richest people until 2020, with an estimated net worth of $2.2 billion in January of that year before she dropped off the list. As she is being investigated for corruption, most of her assets have been frozen.
While her father served as a president for nearly four decades in one of the most impoverished and corrupt nations in the world, her massive wealth has been under scrutiny. According to Forbes, most of her wealth came from holding large stakes in several industries. She became the head of Sonangol in 2016 After her father left office, Joo Loureno promised to crack down on corruption and eventually removed DosSantos from her role at Sonangol. Loureno's government opened corruption investigations against DosSantos and a national court ordered her assets to be frozen. She was indicted by the attorney general's office a year after.
