The first-person puzzle game that spawned a thousand meme will get a glow-up on December 8th. Along with the new graphics cards, the game added ray-tracing support, hi-res texture and models. The title looks almost brand new because of the realism of the lighting and reflections.

The DLC is designed to make it easier to add support for modern technologies like ray tracing and enhanced materials to classics. When used with the latest generation of Nvidia's graphics cards, the latest version of Nvidia's artificial intelligence upscaling technology is designed to boost resolution and frame rates.

The only graphics cards that can be used with the 40-series are the older ones. A full list of recommended specifications can be found in the image above, but expect to need at least an RTX 3060 to run the game at 30 frames per second in 4K, rising to 60 frames per second in 5K.

The DLC can be downloaded on December 8th on the Steam page. If you own the original portal, it will be free. This version of Quake II is a good example of a ray-tracing mod. This is a more modern version of the game, with more lavish lighting.
