Russia has a new version of donut chains where Krispy Kreme used to stand.
Krunchy Dream is a donut shop that is operating under the group. The group is owned by a man who used to own Krispy Kreme in Russia, according to a report. He applied to trademark the name in the fall.
The cult donut chain is one of many international companies that have stopped doing business in Russia. Krispy Kreme stopped imports of donut-making supplies and ingredients into Russia and ended its franchise agreement with its sole partner in the country.
All Russian Krispy Kreme shops were shut down. The company said in its second-quarter results that it had closed 30 shops in Russia.
An employee of Krunchy Dream said that the donuts remained the same. Insider's requests for comment were sent outside regular business hours.
McDonald's is back in Russia as "Vkusno & tochka", which means "tasty and that's it."
