According to sources, Karl- Anthony Towns might have avoided a serious injury to his lower right leg if he hadn't injured his right calf.
Towns suffered a noncontact injury turning to run down the floor on Monday night in Washington, reaching back to grab at his calf and leaving uncertain about whether he had suffered an injury.
Towns needed help leaving the court for the locker room, but an initial examination suggested that he wouldn't have much damage.
Towns was ruled out for the rest of the game after being injured in the first quarter.
The Twins lost 142- 127 to the Wizards.
In 20 games for the Wolves, Towns has averaged 21.4 points, 8.5 rebound and 5.2 assist. In eight NBA seasons, he has averaged more than 20 points and 11 points per game. The team has been trying to make a Towns-Gobert partnership work on the front line.
