The Packers are not Jordan Love's team.
Packers coach Matt LaFleur made it clear that if Rodgers' rib injury allows him to start, he will.
Rodgers had additional tests on Monday after he left the game against the Eagles because of breathing problems. He wasn't sure about the results.
There are sometimes things that don't show up on the scans. I can tell you that he is feeling better.
Even if Love is in better shape than Rodgers, they won't go with him unless it's an injury related move.
LaFleur doesn't think that's what we're arguing about. We have a lot of faith in both of them. You know, he's the starter. Throughout his career, he has battled through a lot. I believe he has been able to play at a high level through a lot of different situations. We will take it one game at a time and make the best decision possible.
The Packers have a bye the following week and that could be a factor in whether or not to hold out Rodgers.
We'll have those conversations, I think. That's what we'll do if that's what we think is best.
In Love's two drives, he went 6-of-9 for 114 yards and a touchdown, and the Packers scored 10 points.
Love couldn't get a chance at a game-tying or game-winning drive because the Packers couldn't stop them after they got to within 40-33. The Eagles ran out the clock at the end of the game.
There were other issues LaFleur faced on Monday. LaFleur was forced to answer questions about Joe Barry's future because of the poor defensive showing, which included more than 20 missed tackles by the coaches' count.
Despite continued struggles from Barry's unit, LaFleur made it clear that he wouldn't be changing the defensive staff.
LaFleur said that they were not going to go down that road. I would make the change if I thought there was a problem. We work as a staff and we are all in this sucker together. It isn't one person. It begins with me and then goes to our assistant coaches and our players.
