Donald Trump was wrong to host a Holocaust denier and white supremacist at his Mar-a-Lago residence, according to former Vice President Mike Pence.
The former president has come under fire after it was reported that he hosted a group of people, including controversial rapper Ye, at his Mar-a-Lago resort.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote that he wanted to help a seriously troubled man, who just happens to be black, Ye, who has been decimated in his business and virtually everything else, and who has always been good to him.
He shows up with three other people, two of which I didn't know, and a political person who I haven't seen in a long time. He was told not to run for office because it would be a waste of time. The fake news was crazy. Trump claimed that he didn't know Nick at the dinner.
The former president met with two people who made antisemitic statements.
In an interview with NewsNation that aired Monday, the vice president said that the president was wrong to give a white nationalist, an anti-Semite and a Holocaust denier a seat at the table. I think he should apologize for it and he should condemn the people who are making those statements.
He doesn't believe that the former president is a racist or a bigot despite hosting people who have made antisemitic statements at his Mar-a-Lago home.
If he was, I wouldn't have been his vice president.
The former vice president said that the president showed poor judgement in giving those people a seat.
The representatives for Trump did not reply immediately.
The dinner comes just weeks after the former president officially announced his bid for the White House, making for a rough start to his campaign.
If it was any other party, breaking bread with Nick Fuentes would be disqualifying for Trump. The most extreme views have found a home in the GOP.
