It's not clear if there are actual plans by Apple to do that, but Musk has previously talked about it. Musk said over the weekend that he would create his own phone if Apple took action.
Content that did not abide by the company's policies led to Apple removing apps from the store. Apple removed the right-wing social media platform Parler from its App Store shortly after the events of January 6th. Parler's content moderation policies were put in the spotlight because they allowed a lot of hate and violent rhetoric. The app was removed from both app stores at the same time. It looks like Musk believes that the app will suffer the same fate. There has been an increase in hate speech on social media since Musk took over.
Musk called out Apple for allegedly no longer advertising on the social networking site.

Apple has stopped advertising on the social networking site. Do they dislike free speech in the US? Musk tagged Tim Cook in a follow up post. "What's happening here?" asked Tim Cook.
It's not alone if Apple stopped advertising on the social networking site. According to a report, half of the biggest advertisers have stopped spending money on ads on the platform since Musk took over. After taking over, Musk acknowledged the advertisers who had fled.
Musk highlighted some replies from users who had issues with their apps being included in the App Store.
Is Apple the only one that has had its products banned? When the company had a battle with Apple over App Store policy, Musk created a parody video.

The 30 percent revenue cut Apple imposed on all in-app purchases was a point of contention between the two companies. The Apple cut resulted in the removal of the game from the App store. The game hasn't appeared in the App Store in a long time.
Musk should note that only 7 percent of Fortnite's revenue came from Apple's mobile device operating system. It is more dependent on Apple than it is on anyone else. The majority of users access the platform via their mobile device. Apple has more than half of the market share in the U.S. The paid subscription plan was only available to users of the iPad.
Musk decided to focus on Apple's 30 percent revenue cut in the App Store instead of battling it over paused ad campaigns.

Did you know that Apple has a 30% tax on everything you buy through their App Store?
Some people replied to Musk with pictures and video of Steve Jobs announcing the revenue split at the public Apple event in 2008.

It is not likely that Musk will be able to change Apple's mind. If Fortnite's billions couldn't do it, the 150,000 people who paid $8 for Twitter Blue through in-app purchases won't do it.
Regardless of what one's opinion is of how Musk has been running the company since he acquired it and took it private last month, public "going to war" with Apple is likely to be a losing battle.
