According to reports, the San Francisco 49ers will be without running back Elijah Mitchell once again, as he has a similar injury that caused him to miss eight weeks earlier this season.
Mitchell will be out of action for six to eight weeks due to an injury he sustained against the Saints. Mitchell had an injury to his right knee in the first week of the season, but this time he had an injury to his left knee.
Mitchell missed the first two weeks of the season because of an injury, but returned in Week 10 and had a season-high 18 carries and 89 yards in a victory over the Los Angeles Clippers. He has recorded 222 yards on 40 carries with no touchdown in four appearances this season.
Christian McCaffrey will get the lion's share of the carries going forward. After Sunday's 13-0 win over New Orleans, Kyle Shanahan said that he was slowed by knee irritation after he had 11 rushes for 32 yards.
Mason saw more action on Sunday after Mitchell left the game. Tyrion Davis-Price was a healthy scratch against the Saints. They can be expected to split the backup duties.
The 49ers have moved into first place in the West. San Francisco has given up less than 20 points in each of its last four victories.
