The sky in Hawaii turned red after the largest active volcano in the world erupted.
According to the United States Geological Survey, the eruption began at 11:30 pm on Sunday night.
The agency said lava was flowing out of the northeast side of the volcano in an early morning update.
"Lava flows are not threatening any downslope communities and all indications are that the eruption will stay in the Northeast Rift Zone," the US Geological Survey said. Volcanic ash, gas, and glass can be carried by winds.
Southwest Airlines canceled 10 flights between Hilo and Honolulu on Monday because of the ash advisory.
The airline doesn't expect any other impacts at this time.
The location and advance of lava flows can change quickly based on past events, according to the United States Geological Survey.
lava flows will most likely be confined within the caldera walls if the eruption stays in Moku'weoweo. lava flows may move quickly downslope if the eruptive vent migrates outside its walls.

There was no immediate threat to populated areas, according to Hawaii's Emergency Management Agency.
According to Hawaii News Now, Hawaii County opened several shelters despite not issuing an order to evacuate.
An ashfall advisory was issued by the Honolulu branch of the National Weather Service.
There were reports of ash on the ground after the eruption.
The NWS said that people with respiratory illnesses should stay indoors to avoid inhaling the ash particles and that anyone outside should cover their mouth and nose with a mask or cloth. According to the NWS, volcanic ash can harm health and cause water and crops to be contaminated.
People in Hawaii posted pictures and videos of a red sky after the eruption.

Half of Hawaii's southernmost island, Hawai'i, is covered by Mauna loa.
It is taller than Mount Everest because it rises from the bottom of the ocean.
The first well- documented historical eruption of the volcano was in 1843.
Since 1984, it has not erupted. Scientists and officials asked residents to prepare to evacuate after weeks of earthquakes at the summit of the volcano, according to Hawaii News Now.
There were more than 100 earthquakes in one day in September.
Ash, sulfur dioxide, and carbon dioxide are some of the gasses released by volcanic eruptions.
Carbon dioxide is a greenhouse gas that warms the planet, but human sources of carbon dioxide, like burning fossil fuels, contribute much more to warming than volcano eruptions.
The planet's climate can sometimes be cooling due to the presence of ash and sulfur dioxide.
In the coming days, it will be necessary to study exactly which gasses were released into the atmosphere.
