The woman in the suit said that Velveeta is not as easy as it seems.
Velveeta's advertised three-and-a-half-minute prep time is a lie, according to Florida'sAmanda Ramirez.
She said that the product cost too much and took her a long time to cook.
A Florida woman has filed a class action lawsuit against the makers of Velveeta, arguing that the product took too long to prepare.
According to the court documents, a class action lawsuit was filed against the parent company of Velveeta. According to Ramirez, Velveeta did not actually take three and a half minutes to prepare, but only the microwaving step.
Ramirez said in the suit that the product takes longer than 3 and a half minutes to prepare for consumption. The Product would need to be cooked in the microwave for less than 3 and a half minutes to be ready in 3 12 minutes.
She felt misled because she was led to believe that microwaving was the only way to cook macaroni and cheese. She said that she filed the class action suit because other people were treated the same.
A spokesman for the company told Insider that they will defend against the allegations.
According to the lawsuit, Velveeta made illegitimate profits from false advertising, even though she did not feel deceived by other products.
"As a result of the false and misleading representations, the Product is sold at a premium price, approximately no less than $10 a cup, higher than similar products, represented in a non-misleading way, and higher than it would be sold."
