Candidates who made false voter fraud allegations were not given enough support by the party.
The RNC's 168 members are expected to choose a chair during the winter meeting in January.
Just over 100 of the party's voting members endorsed her reelection in a letter obtained by The Hill earlier this month.
There are other possible candidates besides McDaniel. Two weeks ago, Zeldin told committee members he was very seriously considering running for RNC chair, after losing his bid for New York governor. Mercedes and Matt are considering running for RNC chair, according to NBC News.
