According to Musk, Apple has cut back on its advertising on the social networking site.
Musk asked if Apple should "publish all censorship actions taken that impact customers" and he began sharing content from companies that Apple has had moderation discussions with. The 1984 parody video suggested that Apple had a monopoly on the app store.
Apple has mostly stopped advertising on Twitter. Do they hate free speech in America? — Elon Musk (@elonmusk) November 28, 2022
Advertisers have been pulling back on their ad campaigns because of Musk's approach to moderation and the re-enabling of previously suspended and banned accounts, such as that of Donald Trump.
Over the course of the last few weeks, Musk eliminated more than half of the employees at the micro-blogging site. After the bungled launch of the $8Twitter Blue subscription that included account verification, advertisers had issues. The platform became chaotic after users learned they could pay $8 to impersonate high-profile accounts.
According to a report released last week, half of the top 100 advertisers have stopped doing business with the micro-messaging service. The advertisers spent more than a billion dollars in 2020 and more than a billion dollars in the following years. AT&T, CNN, Dell, and other companies are no longer advertising on the social networking site.
According to the Financial Times, Musk called the CEOs of some brands to try to convince them to stay on the platform. Musk has been "berating" companies that have pulled out of Twitter ads, leading some to reduce spending to a bare minimum to avoid further confrontation with Musk, who has championed "free speech" and "civil debate" on the platform
After Musk's takeover, Phil Schiller, the Apple App Store's chief, deactivated his account, a sign that Apple executives are not happy with the direction that the service is going. Last Friday, Musk commented on Apple's App Store policies, giving some insight into what might happen if there is a problem with content on the social networking site. Musk has said that Apple is making moderation demands and that it is threatening to stop selling its products in the App Store.

Musk said that he will make an alternative phone if Apple and Google decide to remove it from their stores. If there is no other choice, it will do so.
