A video of a Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade performance of "All I Want for Christmas Is You" has gone viral on TikTok as a member of the crowd shows the lyrics to the song.

The video, which was posted by TikToker, shows Carey's performance at the New York City parade and has over 6 million views. Two large monitors showed Carey's singing and the backup dancers were also on stage.

The caption of the clip said, "Mariah Carey is using a teleprompter for her most famous song at the Macy's Day Parade."

A Macy's spokesman told Insider that the audience was given the chance to sing along with the help of the teleprompter. Carey's representatives did not reply to Insider's request.

Many people speculated in the comments. One user thought it was for the crowd to sing and another thought it was for the dancers.

The entire broadcast has these running in the script according to a comment with over 43,000 likes. It's a failsafe for her. It's more for the crew so everyone knows where and when to go.

People don't understand how live tv/ performances work. She will not know where she is in the song if the audio fails.

Performers, inflatables, and live music were part of the 96th Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Carey closed the show with a song.

"All I Want For Christmas Is You" was released in 1994 and peaked at number 12 on the Hot 100 list.

Carey became the first artist in history to have a number-one record in four different decades after it reached the number-one spot.

According to chart data, Carey's Christmas song broke a record for the biggest single day streams with 17.223 million. Carey wished everyone a Merry Christmas in a post on his verified account.
