More staff have been let go since then, some through layoffs and others through more targeted firings.

The slide read "We're recruiting".

There are no open roles at the company on the job- search site.

Since acquiring the company, Musk has drastically changed the workforce. The CEO and CFO of the company were fired after the takeover deal went through.

Half of the company's workforce was cut after Musk laid off staff. Some workers at the company were fired because of their criticism of Musk and the company.

Remaining staff were told to leave.

Musk told workers that they would need to be extremely hardcore and work long hours at high intensity if they wanted to keep their jobs.

Musk and his team had expected more people to commit to the new vision of the company. As the deadline approached, the company's vice-presidents and Musk himself called some "critical" workers to convince them to stay on.

A person familiar with the company's processes told Kali Hays that less than half of the company's remaining 4,000 employees decided to stay on. Some of the people who were laid off were members of the ad sales team.

In an all-hands meeting last Monday, Musk said there would be no more layoffs. Several dozen more people were fired for performance reasons on Wednesday.

The slide from Musk's presentation doesn't state which roles the company is hiring for. The staff at "Twitter 2.0" didn't sign up for Musk's ultimatum, so the company reached out to engineers to work for it.
