The African nation took a 2-0 lead in the first half thanks to goals from Mohammed Salisu and Mohammed Kudus.

South Korea came back at the end of the first half and at the beginning of the second.

Cho, the top-scorer in his league, scored two goals in three minutes to level the game.

Kudus, who had headed in Jordan Ayew's cross in the first half, added a final twist when he thumped in a third for the Black Stars.

South Korea had a number of chances to get back in the game but, despite 10 minutes of added time, they couldn't.

There were emotional scenes at the final whistle as many South Korea players fell to the ground while manager Paulo Bento was sent off for arguing with the referee for not allowing a corner to be taken.

Fans in the stand blew whistles and danced in celebration as the ecstatic substitute ran onto the pitch.

With Portugal to come next for South Korea, this feels like a significant defeat, as well as the unfortunate loss against Portugal.

Dramatic ending to key match in Group H

South Korea won many corners and got Son Heung-min of Spurs on the ball frequently.

He was locked in a battle with a young Seagull full-back down the wing, but that was not enough to stop the other team from scoring.

It did not appear likely that there would be a way back into the game after the two goals were scored.

After 24 minutes, Salisu pounced on a scramble in the box to poke in the opener, before Kudus sprinted to the corner flag to celebrate his goal.

South Korea's fans were on their feet, some close to tears, after two superb goals brought the teams level.

After Inaki Williams missed a cross from the left, Kudus thumped in a third anddecisive goal for the team.

South Korea threw everything they had at Ghana, but they couldn't get the ball to go their way.

The scenes at full time indicated the importance of the result to both teams, the real significance of which will be felt after the Portugal-Uruguay game in Group H.
