Now that the accounts of users that were previously banned from the platform, including former president Donald Trump, are back on, the likelihood of Apple and Google banning them from their app stores suddenly doesn't look very likely.

Musk is ready to build his own phone with an app store of his own.

I hope it doesn't come to that, but if there is no other choice, I will make an alternative phone, he said.

Both Apple and Google have policies in place that prevent hate speech, discrimination, and harassment, though neither company has officially said that they plan to banTwitter. Parler was banned by both companies at one point, but Apple allowed it to return to its App Store in April 2021.

Musk initially said he wouldn't restore any account without forming a "content moderation council with widely diverse viewpoints", but he relented after conducting a poll.

The vast majority of smartphone users would be unable to easily access the app and would need to resort to the web version to use the platform if Apple and GOOGLE banned it from their app stores. Even if Musk were to build his own phone, it would be difficult to turn it into a viable product with a thriving app store.
