The annual pissing contest of the Big Ten's only two good teams took place Saturday, and like last year, it was Michigan demolishing Ohio State. Kevin Warren will tell you that this game was not an instant classic for anyone who wasn't wearing maize and blue.
It was a one-score game for all of 12 seconds after the Wolverines took a 24-20 lead in the third quarter. The best game of quarterback in J.J. McCarthy's career was one of the reasons for the 45-23 win.
There were 160 bills on the ground in the fourth quarter. The first 75-yard run broke the game open and the second 85-yard run made it three scores.
The Buckeye defense gave up over 250 in the air and over 100 on the ground. The underhand toss that was picked in the red zone was thrown by C.J. Stroud. Hopefully he didn't turn on the USC-Notre Dame game later in the day as the USC looked impressive enough to steal OSU's spot in the College Football Playoff.
Big Blue fans are willing to pat themselves on the back, so I will let them enjoy the W and not remove a rib. The Big Ten and Ohio State seem to be fraudulent.
Jim Harbaugh's team has one more hurdle left to return to theCFP, and it's 8-4 Purdue, who made the conference title game because Iowa gagged againstNebraska. In their two losses, Penn State was defeated by OSU and U-M by scores of 85 and 48. They are the only other team that the B1G has to offer. Mel Tucker and Michigan State didn't get into a bowl game. The most impressive non- conference win in the Big Ten is by Ohio State.
Ohio State could not afford to be outclassed at home by a team that is miles ahead of where it was in the first game of the season. I could see an argument about the fact that the stadium wasn't crying for most of the final quarter.
Ohio State fans will be the biggest fans next Saturday. The only explanation is arrogance.
The three way tie rules were not on Oregon's side.
Even though the Ducks beat the Utes, this formula won't make fans angry.
