I don't seem to be eligible for these promotions. For the first time in a long time, I seem to be eligible for an Amazon discount promotion with Chase points, so hopefully other people have the same luck.

Save on Amazon by redeeming Chase points

It is possible to save on Amazon purchases if you redeem a single Ultimate Reward point.

One common offer is for 50% off an eligible purchase, up to a $15 discount. If you use at least 100 Chase points you can get 50% off an eligible purchase. You need to check this link to see if your account is eligible.

There are a few things to watch out for.

• Check to see if you’re eligible for an offer by clicking the “Activate now” button at this link; note that to be eligible you’ll need to have a card earning Chase Ultimate Rewards points linked to your account, so if you don’t have that, add one (this is the most common reason you otherwise wouldn’t be eligible)
• This offer is available through December 31, 2022, or until a certain number of people have redeemed the offer, so you’ll want to use this ASAP
• This offer is only available for products shipped by Amazon.com; products fulfilled through third parties won’t qualify, even if they’re “fulfilled by Amazon.com” or “Prime eligible”
• You can take advantage of this offer at most one time

My account was eligible for 50% off, so I added a $30 gift card to my cart.

I used the payment method section to select one of my cards that earns Chase Ultimate rewards points. You can choose the number of points you want to apply for a purchase.

If you redeem Chase points for an Amazon purchase, you will get just 0.8 cents of value per point, and I value Chase points at 1.7 cents each, making it a bad deal. You want to redeem one point. If you type "$0.01" in the box, one point will be applied in order for you to get a one cent discount.

Some versions of the offer require you to redeem a minimum of 100 points in order for you to get the full amount. This is a great deal.

If you are eligible for the 50% discount, you should still take advantage of this, even if you don't have an immediate need to buy something. This can be used to purchase gift cards for companies such as Apple, DoorDash, Southwest Airlines, Starbucks, and others.
