Sinead McSweeney said in a statement that she worked more than 75 hours a week since Musk took charge of the company. McSweeney provided a statement to the court in order to get an injunction that would prevent her from being fired by the company. The injunction was granted on Friday after McSweeney claimed she didn't resign but was restricted from accessing company systems.
McSweeney didn't respond to Musk's midnight email that told staff they either had to agree to an "EXTREMELY hardcore" culture by clicking yes or their resignation would be accepted. The vice-president is required by her employment contract to work more than 40 hours a week.
The Irish Times reported that McSweeney said her job has become harder since Musk took over, but that she didn't mind putting her shoulder to the wheel.
According to the report, McSweeney said that Musk is leading the organization in an unconventional way. The chief executive has no apparent logic in firing and rehiring staff.
Less than a week after his takeover deal was finalized, the "chief twit" cut half of the workforce. Around 2,000 people quit and turned down his offer after he gave them an ultimatum. Some staff were asked to come back.
McSweeney didn't reply to requests from Insider.
