Thousands of people took to the streets in parts of Shanghai, Beijing and other cities in China on Sunday to protest the country's harsh zero- Covid policy.
A protest took place in the Chinese city of Urumqi on Sunday after people shouted slogans demanding the lifting of curfews across the country.
The death of at least 10 people in a fire in a building in Urumqi, the locked-down capital of the region, has served as a catalyst for the protest against China's anti-pandemic rules.
The police barricaded the area as they tried to evacuate the area of protesters who were chanting "down with the party, down with the president."
At Beijing's Tsinghua University, people held up blank pieces of paper to protest against censorship as they chanted for freedom of expression.
Similar protests led by university students were seen in other cities.
