  • The woman said she was in the break room when the shooting began.

  • She stayed when the shooter left so she wouldn't be alone.

  • Six people died in a store in Virginia.

A Walmart employee who was in the break room when her colleague started shooting at her co-workers said she stayed in the room so they wouldn't be alone.

Wilczewski told CNN that she was in the employee break room at the time of the shooting.

Police said six people were killed and the shooter killed himself.

Wilczewski said she was in a meeting in the room when the man pointed a gun at her and started shooting.

She said that it didn't register as real initially.

Wilczewski hid under a table and saw that some of her colleagues had been shot.

She didn't go because she didn't want to leave them alone.

She told the families of the people killed that she could have left. I stayed to make sure they weren't alone in their final moments.

The exact number of people killed in the break room is not known.

The shooter came back to the room and told her to leave the store.

She said that the door was covered in blood. I grabbed my bag and thought, "If he's going to shoot me in the back, he's going to have to try really hard." and I booked it until I got to my car.

She told WAVY-TV that the shooter told her to leave.

She said the man ordered her to go back to her house.

Walmart said in a statement to Insider that the accused worked as an overnight team leader at that store.

Police didn't give a reason for the attack.

A male 16-year-old whose identity has been hidden is one of the victims.
