Medical researchers think they have found the cause of Bruce Lee's death.

Lee, a global phenomenon, was waiting for the release of his first major Hollywood motion picture, "Enter the Dragon," when he died in 1973.

The world was surprised by Lee's death because he was known as one of the most fit people on the planet.

Prior to the release of Enter the Dragon, Lee had arranged a lunch meeting with George Lazenby, who plays James Bond. He was found dead in his hotel room after taking a painkillers and complaining of a head ache.

The cause was determined to be cerebral palsy. Doctors thought that the reaction to a painkillers may have been to blame.

Researchers think he died from drinking excess water and having a previous injury to his kidneys.

Lee made famous the quote "Be water, my friend" but it appears that he died from excess water.

Hyponatraemia, which can be caused by too much water in the body, may have been the cause of his death, according to doctors.

According to the researchers, Lee was at risk for hyponatraemia because of his high liquid intake, marijuana usage or use of prescription drugs or alcohol, and a history of injury to his kidneys.

The researchers propose that Bruce Lee died because of his inability to excrete water.

Rumors swirled that Lee was killed by a curse, or that he was killed by a jealous lover.

Researchers theorize that Bruce Lee died from a specific form of kidney disease that made it hard for him to excrete enough water. Hyponatraemia, cerebral oedema and death are possible if excess water intake is not matched by water excretion in urine, which is in line with the timelines of Lee's demise.

Hyponatraemia

Symptoms of hyponatraemia can include nausea, headaches, fatigue, and muscle weakness. Seizures and coma are more serious symptoms.

If you think you may be suffering from hyponatraemia, you should seek the advice of a doctor.

Taking preventative measures such as weighing water intake against water loss for balanced hydration can be done by those at increased risk. Doctors may recommend drinking sports drinks like Powerade or Gatorade instead of water during high-intensity activities.
