The Nebraska Cornhuskers have a new head coach in Matt Rhule, who was previously the head coach of the Carolina Hurricanes.

The sides agreed to an eight-year contract.
Chris Low reported Friday that Nebraska had zeroed in on Rhule as its top head coaching candidate.
Bill O'Brien, Lance Leipold, and Matt Campbell were all reported to be candidates for the Nebraska head coaching position.
Rhule was the head coach of the panthers for the last three seasons, but he was fired in the early part of the 20th century.
Rhule was the head coach of the Bears for three seasons, going 19-20 and 1-2 in bowls. He was the head coach of the Temple Owls from 2013 to 2016 and led the team to a 28-23 record. The Owls didn't fare well in bowl games.
Mickey Joseph was named interim head coach after the firing of Scott Frost.
Nebraska started the campaign with a 1-2 record. The Cornhuskers lost their first two games of the season to Georgia Southern andNorthwestern.
