Harry Kane scored five goals in the World Cup. He has not had a chance to shoot at the target.

I don't worry about that number because we know the provider role Harry plays for this England team even when he isn't scoring himself, but watching him against the United States it was obvious something wasn't right.

After playing a big part in the Iran game with two assists, he looked very tired and leggy to me.

I think it's time to think about getting him right for the knockout stages, and I have a hunch that he'll come in to face Wales on Tuesday.

To get the feel-good factor back after the disappointment of our draw with the US, England needs to be refreshed.

I can understand why he stuck with the same team that had scored six goals against Iran, but I don't think he'll do it again in our final game.

  • What do England and Wales need to do to qualify for last 16?

Did Southgate get his subs right?

Everyone was hoping that the same thing would happen against the US after the euphoria of our first game. It was actually quite flat.

I thought Harry Maguire was the man of the match, and that tells you a lot about the performance of the team. We needed him to get on the end of everything.

The US stopped us from playing and they also stopped us from playing well.

It was disappointing that we couldn't change the direction of the game with the attacking options we had on the bench.

I'm not saying that in retrospect. We were all watching and wondering if the replacements could have been different.

I was surprised that only one or two players came on at the half-time break. One or two players looked tired as our plan was not working.

Everyone will have an opinion about who would have made a difference, but it's the manager who makes that decision.

There will be games at this tournament where we need to change our personnel or tactics in order to win.

This was not one of them because a point was not bad.

A good performance will put us back on track

We went from being magnificent to mediocre.

There is no need to be concerned about that. Brazil went through the World Cup and won all seven games.

We are in a very strong position despite the fact that we didn't perform as well as we could have during the group stage.

I don't want to sound arrogant about our chances, but we would need to lose to Wales to not make it to the last-16 now, and that seems highly unlikely.

I would expect us to win our group and go through as winners.

It's going to be hard, of course. TheWales situation means they have to win to have any chance of getting out of the group, and then you have the rivalry between the home nations playing each other which adds another element to the game.

I know that things will not be easy on Tuesday because of our rivalry with Scotland.

When I played against Scotland, I would look at their side and think we had a better team than them, because I knew a lot of their players from facing them in the premier league.

I am confident that the England players will approach this game with the right attitude.

I want to see the same attacking outlook, ideas and energy we showed in Iran. We will get back on track if we do that.
