A Twitter employee had to stop IVF treatment after being laid off by Elon Musk, report says

The employee said she had to stop her treatment because she lost her job.

The woman, who did not want to be named, said that the social networking site had offered to cover the costs of fertility treatment for people who are struggling to have babies.

The woman said that her chances of getting pregnant naturally were almost zero because she had a blocked Fallopian tube.

A woman's eggs are fertilized in a lab and transferred into her uterus.

According to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, over 326,000 assisted reproductive technology cycles were performed in the US in 2020.

The woman would not be able to continue her treatment because she had lost her health insurance and her job, according to the report.

According to the report, some other employees were able to use their benefits to pay for infertility treatment. Before their contract ended, others were unable to get appointments.

It's heartbreaking to be that close to having a child, then to be told that it's not going to happen.

Depending on where they are, staff were offered a three-month package. Five employees who filed a lawsuit against the company on November 1 said they had been promised at least two months' severance pay, bonus plan compensation, and healthcare coverage.

They say Musk didn't keep his promises when he laid off 3,700 workers.

A request for comment by Insider was not responded to by the social network.
