Musk said that the decision to ban Trump was a mistake.

In a reply on the platform on Friday, the new owner and CEO explained that the reinstatement of Trump's account last week was a matter of justice more than anything else. He hasn't used the platform that used to be his go-to and constant public communication tool since he was re-instated.

Musk said on Friday that he's fine with Trump not using his social media accounts. There was no violation of the law or terms of service when his account was banned.

The US Congress formed a special committee to determine the type and number of laws that were broken by Donald Trump on January 6, 2020. In court last month, the committee proposed that Trump broke the law by obstructing an official proceeding of Congress, among other things.

Musk has made changes to operations since taking over at the end of October. Musk was open in his dislike of the company's active form of content and user moderation, saying it went against free speech principles. Any speech that doesn't violate the law should be allowed on the platform.

The move to remove Trump from the platform in 2020 had a negative effect on the micro-blogging site, according to Musk.

Musk said that deplatforming a sitting President undermined public trust in the social media site.

He said that the platform should be fair to everyone.
