Despite assurances from World Cup officials that LGBTQ+ expression would be allowed, this hasn't always been enforced. Seven European teams removed the bands from their uniforms after being told that they would not be allowed to enter if they wore LGBTQ+ clothing. The World Cup is welcome to everyone, but it hasn't been followed up on by football's governing body.
