I was a fan of the device. When the noise-canceling AirPods Pro came out, I thought that over- ear headphones only offered small ears and a case to carry in my luggage. After a couple of weeks of traveling with the Bose 700 headphones, I realized that my over- ear headphones were nothing more than a misconception, thanks to the high tech features on these headphones.

Here is what you need to know about the Bose 700 headphones.

What a traveler should look for in a good pair of headphones

We all love surround sound and noise-cancellation features, because they make audio sound better. Those two features are nice, but they are not at the top of my wish list.

Wired and wireless connectivity

KYLE OLSEN/THE POINTS GUY

I like to make sure that my headphones offer wired and wireless connections. I can use the headphones on my phone or laptop to listen to music or use the cord to connect them to the inflight entertainment system. Nowadays, most headphones over $100 offer this, so it isn't hard to meet, but it's not a requirement in my headphones.

The only way to connect to the Apple AirPods is through a wireless device. I haven't seen the feature on any of my flights. If you want to watch the movies on the screen in front of you on a plane, but you don't have earbuds, you're stuck with crummy inflight earbuds.

Durability

I want my headphones to last a long time. My friends and family don't like how much I carry in my backpack. I need a strong case that will keep my headphones safe when my Macbook Pro gets stuck in my backpack at the airport.

Painless calls

I look for a microphone that won't pick up background audio If your flight is canceled and you have to wait in a long line to get re booked, you might want to think about this. Getting through quickly to an airline agent is the best way to get re booked and on your way. You don't want your agent to say "I'm sorry" when you call. I can't hear you There is a lot of sound. Please return the phone calls. A clear microphone that doesn't pick up background conversations is important for travelers

Some of the features of the Bose 700 headphones have become my favorites.

Noise cancellation

He told me that some of the newer Sony headphones have better noise cancellation than the Bose 700 headphones I was going to review. Bose 700 headphones' noise cancellation impressed me even though I haven't tried them.

Bose Music allows you to change the noise cancellation from one to 10. The noise control can be changed with a physical button on the side of the headphones.

Going for a walk on a busy street with cars driving around 30 mph around me, I was left listening to wooshes as cars drove by me with the headphones on. I played some guitar music in the air on the flight. The headphones made it hard for me to hear plane noises, but they made it hard for people to talk. When I removed the headphones for the first time, I was surprised at how loud the plane was.

The Bose Music app was downloaded after I received the headphones. I was able to connect my headphones to my phone in the app after I downloaded it. The ability to connect my phone and laptop at the same time was one of my favorites. I didn't have to change the audio connection between the two

Bose Music doesn't require you to have a Bose Music account to use the headphones.

You can adjust the Bose Music app's features, such as the noise cancellation and equalizer.

Intuitive controls

KYLE OLSEN/THE POINTS GUY

The touch-sensitive gesture pad and physical buttons make controlling the headphones easy. You can learn how to use the controls on the headphones with a simple-to-use guide.

CommandFeature
Two taps.Play/pause music and answer or decline calls.
Swipe of finger up or down.Volume change.
Swipe of finger left or right.Change tracks.
Hold Bose logo.Battery reading.
Hold Bose logo during an incoming call.Decline the call.

The controls didn't always work the first time around. Two taps on the right ear cup didn't always stop my music. The noise control button wasn't easy to use. I used my phone and Bose Music app to change many of the controls because it was hard to get the noise cancellation back to the maximum of 10.

A sleek design with two color choices

KYLE OLSEN/THE POINTS GUY

I think the Bose 700 headphones are pretty. The headphones are some of the most stylish on the market. You can choose between black or silver. The ear cups fit in easily when the headphones are folded back into their case. I didn't feel like they were too heavy at 9 ounces, and the headband made it easy to listen to.

A long-lasting battery

The battery can last up to 20 hours. The battery lasts 12 hours and 35 minutes in our tests with mixed use. The headphones were back to 30% battery after just 30 minutes of charging from the cable.

Bottom line

The Bose 700 headphones have great craftsmanship and quality, but the elephant in the room is the high price. The headphones from Sony have great sound quality, better battery life and high-quality noise cancellation. The Bose 700 headphones offer superior comfort, but I have other things I want to get done. They should be recommended to a friend.
