The culture at the company was said to be like a cult.

More than a dozen former Adidas and Yeezy employees talked to the publication. The partnership between West and the sportswear company ended in October.

After staffers wrote a letter to Adidas' CEO and executive board members urging them to address accusations that there was a "toxic" workplace environment, Adidas launched an investigation. Rolling Stone was the first to report the letter.

The former employee told the publication that they worked so much because they were looking for West's approval.

The ex-employee said she had tried "cult deprogramming," a tactic used by cult members to re-examine their situation.

The Adidas Yeezy partnership was terminated because of hate speech and offensive behavior, according to the Adidas spokesman. We have been talking to our employees about the events that led us to end the partnership. We're working through the details of the terminated relationship.

It is not clear if the accusations are true. We have decided to launch an independent investigation of the matter to address the allegations.

Representatives for the artist did not reply to the request for comment.
