After leaving Macau International Airport on the 23rd of November, there was an engine fire and the plane was forced to return to the airport.
The plane was flying from Macau, China to Bishkek in Kyrgyzstan. The cockpit control panel of the aircraft indicated that there was fire on the engine. The crew decided to go back to Macau after stopping the climb at about 10,000 feet.
The operations procedures were followed by the captain after the Engine fire. The crew shut down the engine, dumped fuel into the Pearl River, and asked the ATC for an emergency landing.
The emergency operations centre was activated by the airport authorities after they received the notification and the cargo plane made a safe landing on Macau's runway 34. The plane was towed to the apron after the fire team extinguished the flames.
The number two engine failed and the aircraft returned to Macau, according to the AACM. An empty dispatch of the aircraft on three engines was approved the next day after all relevant preparations and precautions were taken.
The aircraft left Macau International Airport on Thursday night after remaining on the ground for over three hours.
Aerostan is a cargo airline based in the airport. They flew from 2004 to 2012 multiple times. Aerostan currently has a fleet of two aircraft.
