Musk said that a new multicolored verification system will be rolled out next week.
Under the scheme, companies will get a gold checkmark, government officials will get a grey checkmark, and the blue checkmark will be dedicated to people. The blue check mark will be used with legacy verified accounts and people who buy a paid plan.
The company wants to manually verify all verifications before the new system goes live. It is not clear what he means by that, as the blue checkmark will be given to those who subscribe to the social network. The reduced workforce will have to check every verification manually to make sure they are not being impersonated.
Sorry for the delay, we’re tentatively launching Verified on Friday next week.
Gold check for companies, grey check for government, blue for individuals (celebrity or not) and all verified accounts will be manually authenticated before check activates.
Painful, but necessary.

Musk said that people can have a second logo to note if they are part of an organization. The organization has to make sure that the individual is representing them or working with them. He said that the decision to apply blue checkmark to all individual accounts was a subjective one.
All verified individual humans will have same blue check, as boundary of what constitutes “notable” is otherwise too subjective.
Individuals can have secondary tiny logo showing they belong to an org if verified as such by that org.
Longer explanation next week.

After pausing the program, Musk said it would resume on November 29th. The plan was put on hold this week by the CEO of the company. This was the first time he talked about using more than one color.
He didn't say if this new verification scheme will happen at the same time as the launch of the new blue account. It is possible that this verification is for existing verified accounts, companies, and government officials.
When the new version of the social networking site is launched, it took another step to stop the spread of fake accounts. The company changed its terms last week so that new accounts have to wait 90 days before they can purchase a subscription.
The new verification program was rolled out by Musk on November 9. The project was halted immediately. He is doing everything he can to avoid that type of chaos again.
According to Musk, all suspended accounts will be given a general amnesty next week based on the results of a recent poll.
