On the bench at the end of Brazil's World Cup win over Serbia, there appeared to be tears in the eyes of the player.

The doctor for Brazil confirmed that the forward had an injury and that it would be assessed on Friday.

"We are confident that he will play in the World Cup," Tite said.

The 30-year-old was replaced in the 80th minute after a heavy tackle.

He sat with his face covered as he received treatment for his ankle injury.

"I didn't see that he was injured, but the capacity he has to overcome it tricked me," Tite said.

The second game of the group is on Monday.

The doctor said they will have a new assessment tomorrow. We can't make comments now.

Over the past few years, the Paris St-Germain forward has had a number of injuries to his foot.

He missed the Copa America due to an ankle injury and was out for several weeks in 2021, due to a different ankle injury.

The Brazilian player drew four more free-kicks than any other player at the World Cup so far, as a result of being foul nine times in the game against Serbia.
