Anyone who has paid for the feature in North America will now be able to try out the full self- driving prototype. Anyone in North America who requests it from the car screen is now able to do so with the full self-driving prototype from theTesla website.
The roll out of the alpha software began in 2020 with a small number of customers, and has since grown to around 160,000 drivers as of October this year. To get access to the beta, drivers need to hit a minimum safety threshold with the company's built-in Safety Score feature as well as logging 100 miles using the company's advanced driver- assist feature.
In the last few weeks, there have been reports that the requirements for drivers have been loosened, with Teslerati reporting that owners of the electric car company have been able to access the self- driving test without hitting any requirements. According to Musk, the feature is now available to anyone who requests it in North America. The company's press department is said to have been dismantled since 2020
Regulators are scrutinizing the company's marketing of driver assist technology. The Department for Justice has reportedly opened an investigation of its own, after the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration opened an investigation into crashes of cars using the autopilot feature. The California Department of Motor Vehicles has accused the company of making false or misleading claims.
Drivers who have purchased the "Full Self-Driving" feature from the company will be able to access the beta. The ability to identify and respond to traffic light and stop signs is one of the available features. A step-down version of Enhanced Autopilot is sold for $6,000 and includes features like auto park and smart summon.
The Full Self-Driving software is close to a Level 2 advanced driver assistance system that needs to be monitored by a driver at all times.
