On the eve of the team's Thanksgiving Day game against the Buffalo Bills, Jameson Williams dropped a dime on the Motor City community after reporting to Detroit Lions practice.
Everything you need to know about the history, records, moments and more can be found here.
The Lions' 12th overall pick gave away turkeys and gift cards to 100 local families on Wednesday. Although Williams hasn't played in an NFL game since he tore hisACL at Alabama in January, he was excited to give back.
"I wanted to get out and get a chance to talk to folks, communicate with folks and let them know I'm for them really," Williams said.
James and Tianna Williams were among the family members. They were by his side for his first holiday event and assisted him throughout his rehabilitation. They hope it becomes a family tradition.
James said it was perfect for him to come to the city. It's better to help the first time.
The family cannot break that bond.
The team hopes that Williams can contribute immediately once he's cleared, as the Lions are in the midst of a three-game win streak.
On his first day back, he ran the passing tree routes with the practice squad quarterback. He left the field as a believer in his abilities.
It was very smooth and quick. Williams was good in and out of breaks. It was really nice to see him. He was happy to be back. He held back his smirk.
