Wilson apologized to his New York Jets teammates on the day he lost his starting job.

Wilson spoke to the entire team on Wednesday, admitting that he messed up the postgame news conference, which he refused to take responsibility for.

He said he had a bad feeling in his stomach.

Wilson's benching was caused by the game and a decline in basic fundamental skills. White will start for the Bears at the stadium. Wilson will not be in the game.

Wilson acknowledged his poor play and didn't ask about the decision. He spoke to the team and pledged to win his job back. Sources said that he wanted to clear the air with his teammates, who were upset by his post game comments.

Wilson said that it was the only thing he could think of. I wanted the chance to talk to those guys.

Wilson's benching was a significant pivot for an organization that had geared almost everything around him. It raises questions about the future of their quarterback position, a proposition the Jets never thought they would have to face.

Wilson's fundamentals are out of whack and he needs time to refocus. He insists that they haven't wavered in their belief that Wilson will be the future of the franchise. The demotion was a temporary one.

It is a small step back. "Yes, absolutely," he said. When he gets a chance to reset himself, I think it will be a great leap forward. It's absolutely true. This isn't placing a nail in his coffin. This is not what it sounds like. It's not close to that. At the end of this, I think it will be a rejuvenated, renewed young man. Wilson wasn't happy with the decision and his reaction was, "Why me?" Why right now? I would like to play.

It's difficult. Wilson told reporters that it wasn't fun. I have to get to work and I have to improve. It did not come as a surprise.

I know what you mean. He said he wasn't surprised because he hadn't done his job. I have to play better if I want to disagree with the decision.

He will take it day-to-day, but he wouldn't say when Wilson would return. It opens the door to a quarterback controversy if White succeeds.

The Jets are trying to end their 11-year playoff losing streak. They don't want to waste this opportunity because of erratic quarterback play.

They're 5-2 since Wilson returned from a knee injury, but his play has been erratic for the past two years. He's ranked 31st out of 33 qualified passers over the last two years. He had a career-low 77 passing yards in the 10-3 loss to the New England.

Sources said that Wilson was called out by the coaches in the team meeting. Wilson's comments weren't a factor in the decision, according to the man. Wilson didn't know he had caused a stir until his father called and asked what he was doing.

Wilson agreed with the nationwide criticism. The way that I dealt with the situation was not right. I need to be a better football player and also a better leader for these guys. I have the chance to turn the page as a player and leader.

Wilson apologized to D.J. Reed.

He said that everything he said was from the heart. Everybody respected it.

"The way that I handled the situation wasn't right. I've got to be a better football player and then I've got to be a better leader for these guys. I have an opportunity to turn the page here as a player and a leader." Zach Wilson

Three weeks ago, Wilson received a vote of confidence from Saleh, who said he would start for the rest of the season. What did you see change?

Some fundamental things have gotten out of whack for him. "This is an opportunity for him to sit back, focus on those things and find a way to connect with the things we fell in love with during the draft." I think he will be able to do it.

If we keep throwing him out there, he will only get worse. He will be able to focus on those basics with a practice plan. The issues are fixed.

Wilson is bad under pressure. He tends to throw the ball off his back foot when he looks at the pass rush. Mike LaFleur acknowledged that there is a problem.

He needs to play fundamentally sound in the lower half.

White has only three career starts.

White achieved near-cult hero status in his first career start, throwing for 405 yards and three touchdown in the upset of Cincinnati. There were two more starts for the former Dallas Cowboys draft pick, one of which was an incomplete game against the Indianapolis Colts.

White started the season as the third quarterback. White was promoted to QB2 in the 8th week of the season, which left some people scratching their heads. It was to give him the chance to be the next man up.

He is now.

White was excited when he heard about the promotion. Every player in the locker room wants to compete and prove themselves. It's just a chance to be a good teammate and help the team.
