Wilson was benched by the New York Jets for the game against the Chicago Bears after a poor performance against the New England Pats.

The head coach told reporters on Wednesday that Mike White would take over for Wilson. There will be a second quarterback.

"Zach's career here is still going strong," he said. That's going to be the narrative. Everybody wants to shout that out.

This is not the end of his life. This is not what it sounds like. It's not close to that.

The Jets were held to just two yards in the second half of their 10-3 loss to the Pats. The Jets locker room was a hive of frustration after Wilson completed just nine of 22 passes.

The wide receiver apologized to reporters. We know that we are not sorry. It hurts because of that. We are better than that. It hurts because of that. In practice, it begins. The things we see and don't call out need to be better. It needs to get called out. This isn't acceptable. It's not enough to feel like this. Hopefully, this is a wake-up for some people in the facility who need to get on with their lives.

The young quarterback was criticized for saying that he didn't think the offense let down the defense, which held the Pats to three points. Cornerback Sauce Gardener and defensive end John Franklin-Myers liked to criticize Wilson.

Do you think it's a mistake? The reporter asked if he agreed with Wilson's comments. Is it something he's going to be better from? It's absolutely true.

Wilson has thrown for 1,279 yards and four touchdown this year. In their last four games, the Jets have scored less than 20 points.
