Mercedes Will Charge EV Owners to Accelerate Faster

The new line of electric cars from Mercedes-Benz will be expensive.

The ability to accelerate quickly will cost Mercedes buyers $1,200 a year. The $1,200 subscription will allow the car to accelerate from 0 to one second quicker. The charge for this "Acceleration Increase" is not the same as the one for the "Ludicrous mode" of the electric car company.

Mercedes-Benz will show its electric car in September.

There are other car companies that charge for features that drivers consider standard in gas- and diesel-powered cars. According to the New York Post, BMW's decision to charge electric car owners $18 a month for heated seats was met with anger from customers. BMW reassured drivers that the new charge is here to stay, despite the response.

Although customers might be upset about the charges, they could be the norm in the automotive sector. As the market for new vehicles has declined in recent years, automakers have shifted their focus to developing software and subscription services to build a continuous revenue stream

Some drivers are resentful as BMW owners were just a few months ago, with one saying the update isripping people off.
