According to reports, Judge had a positive meeting with the Giants.

Jon Morosi said Wednesday that Judge had multiple meetings with the Giants that went up to the ownership level.

Morosi doesn't think a formal contract offer was made, but it could happen this week.

The 30-year-old Judge is a native of Sacramento, California and a Giants fan.

San Francisco is seen as the biggest threat to take Judge away from New York because of his California roots.

The best season of Judge's career was the one in which he finished second in the American League Most Valuable Player voting.

Roger Maris had held the single-season American League record for homers since 1961.

He led the American League with 131 runs scored and finished second with a.300 batting average.

For his efforts, Judge was named an All-Star for the fourth time and won two awards.

Despite a lack of consistent production from other parts of the lineup, the Yankees won the American League East with a 99-63 record and advanced to the American League Championship Series where they were swept by the Astros.

Losing Judge would drop the Yankees from World Series contender to a team that wasn't sure if they would make the playoffs.

The Giants missed the playoffs after a disappointing 81-81 season in 2022.

The arrival of Judge could push the Giants back in the same direction as they were one year ago, when they posted the best record in baseball.

According to Morosi, Judge could make his free-agent decision by the end of the winter meetings.
