There is a city in Virginia calledChesapeake. A Walmart manager opened fire on fellow employees in the break room of a Virginia store, killing six people, police and a witness said Wednesday.

The man who shot himself was dead when police arrived. There was no clear reason for the shooting.

A shopper told a local TV station that the store was busy just prior to the attack.

Workers usually gather in the break room before their shifts, according to Briana Tyler.

She told ABC that her manager opened the door and started shooting.

She said that he didn't say anything.

Solesky confirmed that the shooter was a Walmart employee but didn't give his name because his family hadn't been told. The police chief didn't know if the victims were employees or not.

The employee told WAVY that the shooter pointed his gun at her and told her to leave.

The mayor said in a statement that he was devastated by the act of violence. "Chesapeake is a tight-knit community, and we are all shocked by this news."

Walmart has many stores in rural areas where hunters rely on it to get their gear.
