1. The former Argentina international said that he wasn't allowed to visit the squad before their opener against Saudi Arabia.

He said on the live stream that he had to have a credentials to go through.

It takes a couple of days to arrange. I was told that the decision came from above, but I saw that others had been allowed in.

He scored 41 goals in 101 national team appearances, but was forced to retire from football last year due to health issues. The national team needed his support and he flew out to support them.

"It's odd that they can't give me the right credentials quickly, I've been in the national team and know they make a credentials for you quickly," he said. I don't know what to think. I won't bother.

I'm going to be patient. I wanted to wish them good fortune. It is rare.

Germany's clash with Japan today will not be that easy, says the man who won the World Cup with West Germany.

He thinks that Germany will become favorites after Argentina's loss to Saudi Arabia, but thinks that Messi's team will come back.

In 2006 Klinsmann managed his country to third place in the competition and he is now a part of the team.

He told the radio programme that football is all about surprises.

The big shots will be in there once we finish the group stage.

They were knocked out of the World Cup in the group stage due to their "attitude".

"I hope this time they don't have any issues on the emotional side of things and they get down to business," he says, adding that this will not be easy against Japan who showed last time in the group stage that they were "serious contender".

  4. There is a monitoring program on the British Broadcasting Corporation.

    Through its media.

“The Argentine national team remained wrapped up in a sandstorm and the horizon clouded over,” said the headline published by newspaper La Nacion. “It was a strange taste because for more than three years they did not know what it was to lose."

Newspaper Clarin described the defeat as a “nightmare for Messi” and a “historic surprise”.

Even outside of Argentina, media outlets described the defeat as “historic”: “Saudi Arabia and its fan base shake Argentina in a historic surprise” said Brazilian newspaper Folha de Sao Paulo. Spanish newspaper El Pais also noted that Saudi Arabia “surprised” Argentina.

Argentina “was wrapped up in the spiderweb of Saudi Arabia”, said another headline.

On Twitter, the Argentine national team conveyed a more hopeful message, or at least a more forward-looking message. “We have to return to the base of what we are. We must think about what is coming,” said Messi.

One of the World Cup's biggest shocks will be Saudi Arabia's victory over Argentina.

The pre-match talk was about how Argentina could win the world title for the first time in 30 years and how Saudi Arabia had no chance.

90 minutes changed what a difference it made.

Argentina's players crept off with their supporters shocked into almost total silence, as a heroic Saudi side celebrated their stunning win with their jubilant fans.

At the half-time break, there was no sign of this result. Messi had scored from the penalty spot and three other attempts had been ruled out for not being in line with the rules.

The Saudi goals in six crazy minutes early in the second half completely changed the narrative and, despite a lot of prodding and probing from Messi and co., the little guys held on to a result that will never be forgotten by the thousands of fans fortunate enough to witness it.

While their party spilled on to the streets of Lusail, how did this result affect Messi's chances of winning the World Cup?

  8. Manchester United is seen as a financial investment by the Glazers.

The main aim of the co-chairmen is to make money and they are interested in the football side but not as much as they would like.

A few issues have made the Glazers think it's a good time to test the water with an exit.

The European Super League plan was dead first. It is done and the money that would have come from it is gone.

Saudi Arabia's support of the team creates more competition within the league.

It is going to cost a lot to run a competitive United in the short-term.

In the summer, the club was sold for over four billion dollars.

Since buying United, the Glazers have not been popular with the public.

Fans would be happy if they left. Their dream of ownership may not be realistic.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe is likely to be the only one interested in buying the club. There may be more uncertainty in the short term.
