Stephen Curry had three NBA titles to his name, but one piece of his legacy was missing.

The 2015 Most Valuable Player award given to Iguodala was a mistake by the voters.

Curry told Redick that he didn't feel bad about Iguodala because he thought he deserved the award.

Do I think I deserve it? Absolutely. Curry said on The Old Man and the Three that the narrative can distract you from the goal. We're not going to win the finals if I don't play well. I thought I played well. The adjustment of Iguodala serving as the primary defender gave us a huge boost throughout the series, and we don't win the finals unless he plays the way he did.

Both of us thought we were deserving. When he heard his name, he was like, "No, it's him." It would have been the same if it was me. I didn't know that I wouldn't have another chance to get one, or that he wasn't deserving of it.

When coach Steve Kerr put Iguodala into the starting lineup for the last three games of the Finals, it shifted the complexion of the series.

In the first three games of the series, James averaged 41.0 points, 12.0 rebound and 8.3 assists, while in the final three games, he averaged 30.7 points, 14.8% rebound and 9.3 assists. Iguodala slowed James down just enough to put the Warriors over the top, even though he put on a Herculean performance.

It was well deserved. Iguodala told Sam Amick of The Athletic that he made the most of the chance. The plan was for me to win. That doesn't happen a lot in the finals. The guy who has the best odds is usually the one who gets the NBA finals Most Valuable Player. I think I made the most of the chance.

Curry didn't have a great Finals. He averaged 26.0 points, 6.3 assists and 5.2 rebound but shot an uncharacteristic 38.6 percent from three-point range and only had one game of 30 or more points. The series shifted on Iguodala's play and Curry remained the best player.

There are many who think James deserved to be the second player in league history to win a Finals Most Valuable Player on a losing team. The core of the team that would set an NBA record with 73 wins a year later was propped up by a group of role players.
