A three-year contract extension was signed by the president of baseball operations for thePhillies.

The extension means that Dombrowski will be with the team through the 27th season.

The team advanced to the World Series for the second year in a row. The playoffs were the end of a 10-year wait for the Philadelphians, who qualified for a wild-card spot with an 87-75 record and then lost to the Astros in the World Series.

The decision to fire manager Joe Girardi and replace him with Rob Thomson was made by Dombrowski, who was in charge at the time. The interim title was removed from Thomson after he signed a two year contract.

In addition to leading four teams to World Series appearances and helping to build championship teams for two of them, Dombrowski is also a general manager.

"Dave has agreed to continue to lead our baseball operations department through the 2027 season, and we are very pleased that he has agreed to do so," said the owner. The path to winning the National League pennant was set by his astute knowledge of the game. I think we will reach our ultimate goal under his leadership.

The first president of baseball operations in the history of the Philadelphia Phillies was hired in December of 2020.

I'm very fortunate to be surrounded by so many great people. Over the last couple of years, we have made significant strides in many areas of baseball operations, and I am committed to building upon them to form a championship organization for the city and our incredible fan base.

His teams have made the playoffs 10 times in his 33 years as a president or general manager. His clubs have made it to the playoffs eight times in the past 11 seasons, with three berths and a World Series title.
