The sold-out crowd rose to its feet as the New JerseyDevils tied their franchise record with their 13th consecutive victory.

The team should get a standing applause. "A run like this is incredible," the coach said after the win.

The team went on to win the Stanley Cup after winning 13 games in a row. After finishing 28th in the NHL last season, New Jersey has surged to the top of the Metropolitan Division.

It's in the history book. "No one is going to take that from us now," said Hischier, who had three assists in the victory. It shows that we are a good team. That we can win the game. We don't have to be hiding anymore.

The team can set a franchise record for consecutive victories when they play the Maple Leafs. The all-time NHL record for most consecutive victories is held by the 1992-93 PittsburghPenguins, who had 17 in a row before tying the New JerseyDevils in the last game of the regular season.

During the current win streak, the New JerseyDevils have defeated the Eskimos twice; the first was in November when they defeated the Eskimos 4-3.

New Jersey jumped out to a lead on a power play goal by Jesper Bratt. Leon Draisaitl scored a power play goal for the Eskimos. During the second period, the Devils built a lead they wouldn't give up, thanks to two goals by the center, one of which was scored thanks to a mistake by the goalie.

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scored at 4:52 of the third period to pull the Eskimos within one goal, but Tomas Tatar answered just under 2 minutes later with his second goal of the game to put the game out of reach. Yegor Sharangovich scored on a turnover at 14:45 of the third to put the game out of reach.

The goalie who has appeared in 10 of New Jersey's 13 wins has made 27 saves. In the off-season, Vanecek was acquired.

I'm happy to be here. It's more enjoyable when you win. Losing is not fun. We are winning and it is fun.

Ruff praised the effort of Vanecek and his team but warned that any celebration comes with a sense of the long road ahead for theDevils.

We have not proven anything yet. We did a lot of good things. Good hockey has been played by us. We are 19 games in. We know we're the hunted now that we've had a good run. We can expect the best from every team. We have to deal with that part.

The streak is tied with any in the history of the team.

Hischier said it's one of the most fun stretches he's ever been a part of. I want it to continue. It's enjoyable. Keep riding away from the waves.
