The identities of 5 people killed in a mass shooting at a nightclub in Colorado Springs, Colo., were released by authorities on Monday.
The latest mass shooting claimed the lives of several people. The police said 17 people were shot in the bar. The shooting at Club Q on Saturday has been described as a sanctuary for people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, and queer.
Each of the five people killed by the pronouns they used to identify themselves was identified by the Colorado Springs Police Chief.
We respect all of our community members, including our LGBTQ community. Therefore we will be identifying the victims by how they identified themselves and how their families have loved and identified them.

Everyone is asked to honor each victim. I want to take a moment of silence to remember those who have died.
"After the moment of silence, I wanted to identify the two heroes who helped Club Q," he said. With their permission, we want to acknowledge their heroic actions because they are part of the investigation. Thomas James and Richard Fierro are the people.
The suspect in the case was charged by James and Fierro.
The suspect used an assault weapon in the attack. At the scene, a handgun and additional magazines were found. He bought both weapons himself. The kinds of guns that were recovered at the scene of the crime were not discussed at the news conference.
Aldrich is accused of five murders and hate crimes.
Colorado Springs Mayor John Suthers said on NBC that it has all the hallmarks of a hate crime. We need to look at social media, we need to look at all kinds of other information, before we make any conclusions about a motivation.
After his mother reported that he had threatened her with a homemade bomb and other weapons, the man with the same name was arrested. The case was sealed after no explosives were found, prosecutors did not pursue charges, and there was no evidence to support the charges.
The governor of Colorado, who is openly gay, condemned the nightclub attack.
The family and friends of those killed and injured in the shooting are in my thoughts and prayers. Colorado stands with the community and mourns with them.
The massacre at the gay nightclub in Florida in 2016 was the worst attack on the gay community in US history.
In Colorado, there have been several high-profile killings, including the one at the movie theater in Aurora, Colo., in 2012 and the one at a Boulder supermarket in 2011.
The district attorney for El Paso County wouldn't comment on the charges that the suspect could face.
Allen said that they don't tolerate bias-related crimes.
