The Chrisleys were found guilty in a tax evasion case and were sentenced to prison on Monday.

Chrisley was sentenced to 12 years in prison. His wife was sentenced to seven years in prison.

A federal jury found the couple guilty of bank fraud and tax evasion in June. Even before they became reality television stars, the Chrisleys took out fraudulent bank loans to fund their extravagant lifestyles.

They hid income from the IRS by using a film production company they controlled.

The Chrisleys were accused of conspiracy to commit bank fraud, conspiracy to defraud the United States and tax fraud. Chrisley was charged with obstruction of justice.

The Chrisleys said that someone else had control of their finances.

The seriousness of the Chrisley crimes cannot be overstated. They hid millions of dollars from the IRS after they cheated community banks out of tens of millions of dollars, and went on television to brag about how much they spent on designer clothes. They involved their own family members and friends to obstruct justice when they found out that they were being investigated.

Todd Chrisley could have been sentenced to between 17 and 22 years in prison while his wife could have been sentenced to between 10 and 13 years.
