The Falcons placed tight end Kyle Pitts and defensive lineman Ta'Quon Graham on injured reserve.

Falcons coach Arthur Smith said nothing has been confirmed as they are still seeing doctors and receiving opinions about a potential tear and severity of the injury.

"I'm not a doctor, but an injured knee is usually what happens, there's varying degrees and where they are in the knee," Smith said. The medical experts will handle it.

Eddie Jackson tackled him just above the knee at the end of a catch-and-run in the third quarter, causing a knee injury. The man was on the ground and then ran away. He walked slowly towards the locker room after entering the blue medical tent.

Smith said that Pitts has been playing through a lot this season, including a hamstring injury that kept him out of the Week 5 game.

Smith said that he has a big impact on the team. He has had a huge impact on the team and the numbers aren't as gaudy as they were as a rookies.

After a 1,000-yard season as a tight end in his first year in the league, he was asked to do different things.

He became more of a complete player at his position, particularly focused on improving his blocking in the off-season, and Smith has said many times he has been happy with what he has done. This season, he has 28 catches for 356 yards and two touchdown, off the pace from his first year, when he had 1,026 yards and one touchdown.

Smith pointed to the plays Pitts made outside last year, as well as the times this season where he couldn't open up at the same speed, as part of what he was referring to when he talked about what Pitts was playing through in 2022.

Atlanta's offense is a big part of it's success.

His impact on winning has been huge for us. Sometimes we have to sacrifice some passing numbers in order to play the way we want to play.

The guy is a good friend. He's not like a lot of guys with that amount of hype because he's a real person. The future is bright for him and that's why we're so excited to have him in this organization.

While he's out, the Falcons could look to a group of tight ends, including Anthony Firkser and Feleipe Franks, who have dealt with calf injuries.

Graham, who has started nine of 11 games for the Falcons, has 34 tackles, eight quarterback hits and a fumbled ball.

"Just fundamentally, the way he's taking on blocks, the little things, the technique things that matter in the run game," Smith said earlier this season. Being able to play good combination blocks is what it comes down to. He's doing a great job.

Graham was taken off the field.

The Falcons will likely look to a group of players, including Matt Dickerson, to fill in for Graham. Atlanta will face Washington on Sunday.
