Iran's Alireza Beiranvand played on after a clash of heads at the World Cup.

He was taken off on a stretcher and replaced.

I don't think he's right to carry on. I think it's a joke.

We are having a lot of discussions about concussions. These protocols are put in place because of that. This isn't ok.

Beiranvand told Iran's medical team he wanted to play after clashing heads with his own defender in the penalty box.

He had a bloodied nose and looked like he had fallen.

Beiranvand should not be on the field right now. It's almost as if he's had to leave.

It's simply not acceptable. It doesn't matter what Beiranvand means to Carlos.

The Three Lions were up by four when Harry was taken off for a concussion.

It is the first time at a World Cup that permanent concussion replacements have been allowed.

A host of new measures have been introduced to improve player safety and teams are allowed one permanent concussion substitution per match.

The introduction of concussion spotters allows experts who can monitor from seats in the stands to identify brain injuries that might have been missed. Video replays can be accessed by team doctors.

Alan Shearer said that ifab is failing the players. The game is being shown all over the world.

A temporary substitution rule needs to be brought in because he should be off the pitch or getting treatment. He can be assessed for 10 to 15 minutes and it's clear he wasn't fit.

You won't get the player to say they want to leave. They will say they are fine. Shearer said that he was not okay.

A medical advisor in the stands is looking at video footage and giving advice to medics who are on the pitch. Is he doing anything?

Matthew Upson was a pundit on the World Cup coverage. He can't continue. It has taken a lot of time in the game.

The first test of the World Cup concussion protocol was a failure according to the interim chief executive of Headway UK.

The current protocols "jeopardise player safety" according to the Professional Footballers' Association.
