Bob Iger is the new CEO at Disney.
The company's board made a change in leadership on Sunday night. The change is already in effect.
Iger will serve as the company's CEO for two years, during which he will work with the Board to find a new leader.
Susan Arnold, Disney board chairman, said in the company's press release that Bob Iger is uniquely positioned to lead the company through this pivotal period.
Arnold said Iger has the "deep respect" of Disney's senior leadership.
Iger said in the company's Sunday press release that he was excited to return as the company's CEO.
He said he was "deeply honored to be asked to again lead this remarkable team, with a clear mission focused on creative excellence."
Iger was chairman and CEO of The Walt Disney Company from 2005 to 2020. Iger was the company's executive chairman and chairman.
Iger told CNBC that he was leaving the company because he had become too confident and tolerant of other people's opinions.
Iger's return to the CEO role is the biggest comeback coup since Steve Jobs took Apple, according to a professor at the University of Michigan.
