Warner Bros. has spent the last decade trying to get DC Comics movies into some form of coherence in live action, but its animation output has generally remained consistent. Batman: The Long Halloween and Superman: Man of Tomorrow will be the first two films in a new series of films based on the New 52 line of comic books. The fifth film in the Legion of Super-Heroes franchise will feature one of the B-tier superhero teams.
While being a first-time hero, the film shows Supergirl getting ready to fight alongside her cousin, even with the speed bumps that come with being a hero. The Legion Academy is happy to teach her the superhero ropes and she is taken to the 31st Century by Superman. If it means that Kara Zor-El won't level buildings while fighting crime, then having Brainiac 5 as a classmate isn't good for her.
Kara learns that the school is being invaded by a criminal group called the Dark Circle when she is at the Academy. Kara and the rest of the students are the ones who stop the Circle and save the school.
Kara doing a team-up with the Legion isn't new territory; even setting aside the futuristic team appearing in Supergirl, both Superman and his son Jon have already done it. Some members of the team were in Young Justice: Phantoms. What else is in the Legion's future, and what steps will be taken to make sure we see more of these heroes going forward.
The movie Legion of Super-Heroes will be released in February of 2023.
