There are two holiday specials this year, one for Christmas and another for Hanukkah. After Werewolf by Night kicked things off in October and impressed everyone with its commitment to old-school horror, theguardians of the avengers headline next week's christmas themed special Ryan Reynolds wants to see if any of his characters can work with a holiday.
During the press circuit for his recently released holiday flick, Reynolds revealed to Big Issue that he co-wrote a Christmas-themed movie for the Merc with a Mouth. He said that the movie would feature a song-and-dance number, but it never got made.
Back then, Fox had a lot of superhero movies on its docket. Despite having writers and big-name actors attached to them, none of these films actually materialized. We were told many times that Gambit would be getting a movie.
The re-release of the second movie for a limited time under a 13 rating and a holiday themed title was done back in December of last year. At the very least it showed that the character could fit in with the rest of the movie if he had to. It won't be the case since the film is bringing Hugh Jackman back to cut and dice with the mercenary.
Maybe after the third movie in the series, we'll get a Christmas movie called "Deadpool Saves Christmas" If only we could see him sing while wearing his costume. Reynolds said "Maybe one day we'll get to make that movie" It is not a musical but a Christmas movie.
The Hollywood Reporter has a story on it.
